Owner and founder of Manhattan Dermatology, Dr. Ashley Magovern believes in providing genuine, honest, and expert dermatologic care, and is proud to practice traditional medicine using the most advanced techniques and technologies. She has assembled an amazing team to provide her patients with the ultimate in care, kindness, and skill, and wants everyone to truly enjoy their experience at Manhattan Dermatology.

Nina Desai, MD

Board-Certified Dermatologist

Dr. Nina Desai joins us from New York City, where she practiced in a private practice setting on Park Avenue and in Tribeca, specializing in medical and cosmetic dermatology. After earning her MD from Brown University, Dr. Desai went on to train at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Medical Center in New York City where she was elected Chief Resident for the Department of Dermatology. Throughout her career, Dr. Desai has conducted dermatological research at Harvard University and Cornell University and has authored numerous journal articles. Her philosophy is simple: to help all of her patients achieve healthy, beautiful skin so they can look and feel their very best every day. On a personal note, Dr. Desai’s husband grew up in Laguna Beach, and after 10 years in New York, she was excited to raise her two young sons on the west coast.

Courtney Phillips, MD

Board-Certified Dermatologist

We are pleased to introduce our newest physician, Dr. Courtney Phillips. She received her medical degree and completed her dermatology residency at University of Southern California’s Keck School of Medicine. She was awarded the Madeline Boccuzzi Award for excellence in dermatology, and served as Chief Resident during her final year. Dr. Phillips has extensive training in general, pediatric, and cosmetic dermatology as well as dermatologic surgery. She has a particular interest in acne, psoriasis, skin cancer screenings, and cosmetic dermatology. A new resident of Manhattan Beach, Dr. Phillips enjoys running on the strand, boxing, or cycling in the front row at Soul Cycle.

Angelyn England, PA-C

Physician Assistant

A board-certified physician assistant who takes great pride in giving her patients the ultimate in professional and personal care, Angelyn England always takes the extra time to listen to and educate her patients. She graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Studies from DeSales University in Pennsylvania, then went on to earn her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies.

Angelyn has extensive training in both general and cosmetic dermatology. She has worked in the field for 12 years, gaining valuable experience helping dermatology patients of all ages. Her expertise includes treating acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, warts, and rashes, as well as performing skin exams to screen for skin cancers. She is skilled in performing biopsies and excisions, and has also worked in dermatology research and assisted in Mohs surgeries. Her cosmetic experience includes injectable fillers, Botox, Dysport, sclerotherapy, chemical peels, and various laser treatments.

Jacquelyn Tran, MS, PA-C

Physician Assistant

A board-certified physician assistant who has been practicing in the medical field for over 11 years, Jackie Tran grew up in Orange County and graduated from University of California, Irvine, with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She went on to become a physician assistant and received her Master of Science from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago, IL. Jackie rotated at Manhattan Dermatology as part of her PA program, and after seeing Jackie in action, Dr. Magovern knew she had to have her on the team some day! So, after a few years practicing in Chicago, Jackie has enthusiastically returned to officially join the team at Manhattan Dermatology. Jackie is dedicated to the practice of medical dermatology as well as preserving and improving the quality of her patients’ skin health, integrity, and youthfulness. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, traveling and spending time with her amazing fiancé and beloved American bulldog, Briggs.

Lizette Ludwig, RN, BSN

Laser + Injectable Specialist

Lizette Ludwig is a board-certified registered nurse and holds numerous certifications in the medical esthetic field. Lizette began her nursing career as a surgical nurse at Torrance Memorial Hospital where she worked with a world-renowned surgeon specializing in bariatric patients. Through continued education, Lizette was introduced to the medical aesthetic field and found her niche—her passion and natural gift for the field became evident.

Lizette brings over 10 years of experience in cosmetic procedures, including lasers, chemical peels, and injectables. She keeps her professional skills finely tuned with continued education courses, always striving to learn new techniques and developments in her field. One of her most important objectives is to provide her patients with high quality professional care while meeting and surpassing their cosmetic goals.

Dani Bostwick

Aesthetician

Dani Bostwick has dedicated over 12 years to aesthetics and is certified by the California State Board. She is extremely passionate about skincare and takes pride in her profession. With her dazzling personality and extensive knowledge of skincare, she is a great contributor to our medical practice. She specializes in HydraFacial MD and chemical peels. When not in the office, Dani enjoys camping with her children, husband, and her beloved dog Stella.

Kari Joseph

Practice Administrator

Kari brings over 15 years of healthcare experience in various medical and dental specialties with a focus in practice management, operations, and marketing—as well as a Bachelor of Science Degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of Utah. Though new to dermatology, Kari has always had a passion for cosmetics, skin care, and all things aesthetic. When not supporting her clinical and clerical team, Kari enjoys time with her five daughters, stepson, husband, and dogs while pursuing personal development, culinary arts, working out, and traveling. She looks forward to meeting you during your next visit to Manhattan Dermatology!

Kimberly Ducille

Social Media + Marketing Manager

Kimberly Ducille is a new addition to our team. She relocated from sunny Florida to take on the California lifestyle, trading her retail background for a new and exciting journey into the world of skincare and cosmetic beauty. Kimberly is passionate about customer service and ensuring that every patient has an amazing experience here at Manhattan Dermatology.

Amanda Alba

Cosmetic Treatment Coordinator

Amanda Alba has been working in the field of dermatology for several years and is a vital part of the Manhattan Dermatology team. Her knowledge of dermatologic procedures and skin care make her a great resource for our patients—everyone loves her! Besides dermatology, Amanda loves working out, shopping, and cheering for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Raquel Ahumada

Lead Medical Assistant

Raquel Ahumada has over 23 years as a medical assistant. New to the field of dermatology, she has developed a passion for skin care and is eager to learn more. Patient care is always a priority for her. Raquel has two children in college and in her free time, she enjoys sitting at the hockey rink watching her youngest play hockey.

Jody Licup

Medical Assistant

Jody Licup is a long-time resident of the South Bay who has worked in the medical field for over 11 years. She is incredibly knowledgeable about all things front office, and provides patients with a wealth of information about everything from our procedures to insurance details. Jody truly enjoys working with patients and helping them meet their healthcare needs. When Jody’s not at work, you can find her at the park or beach playing with her son and husband.

Amber Jana

Medical Assistant

With a passion for medicine, skin care and cosmetics, Amber Jana is a dynamic member of our back office team. Amber is a certified medical assistant and was awarded the Perfect Attendance Award at SCROC, where she attended the medical assistant program. We were lucky to have her join our team at Manhattan Dermatology! Amber’s passion for learning mirrors her love for helping patients look good and feel good. When Amber is not at work, you can find her working up a sweat at kickboxing.

Nancy Nuñez

Nancy Nuñez’s passion for patient care and giving back is exemplified by her remarkable administrative skills. With over seven years in the medical field as an LVN, this go-getter occupies her time off by volunteering, writing inspirational blogs, running along the California coast, reading non-fiction, and unwinding with her family. Holly McArthur

Medical Assistant

Holly McArthur has recently relocated to the South Bay from Simi Valley, where she worked in the dermatology field for over 14 years. She has completed EMT and phlebotomy programs, graduating both at the top of her class, and is currently working toward completing her bachelor’s degree in human biology. Holly enjoys helping others, volunteering, shopping, relaxing at the beach, and camping with her family. In her free time, she helps run and manage a local hot sauce company that she owns with her husband. We’re so happy she’s joined the Manhattan Dermatology family!

Larisa Leal

Larisa Leal is a certified medical assistant with a joyful passion for quality patient care. While exploring the field of dermatology, she developed a new love and understanding of skin care and cosmetics—a love and understanding she looks forward to passing on to every patient. When Larisa isn’t providing excellent care at Manhattan Dermatology, she enjoys spending time with her son.

Jen Aceves is our aesthetic assistant with seven years of experience in plastic surgery, aesthetics, and dermatology. She strives to provide exceptional patient care and services for our practice. When not at Manhattan Dermatology, Jen dedicates her free time to her two lovely daughters whom she loves and adores.

Windy Macri

Medical Assistant

A certified medical assistant who finds pleasure in helping others, Windy Macri is also a licensed aesthetician with a love of all things skin care. In her free time, she enjoys walking and biking near the ocean, reading, and spending time with her husband. Windy is very happy to have joined the Manhattan Dermatology team!

Erin Godoy

Patient Intake Coordinator

Erin Godoy graduated from CSUDH with a major in psychology and a minor in sociology, and comes to Manhattan Dermatology with a retail and customer service background of over 20 years, plus a spa background of over seven years. She became obsessed with skincare while working in retail and loves helping her clients achieve their skincare goals. In her spare time, Erin enjoys going to concerts, breweries, and attending group exercise classes like yoga and step—and she loves to spoil her new puppy, who has cured her fear of dogs!

Hyede Hutchins

Patient Intake Coordinator

Hyede Hutchins says, “I love giving!” She has worked in hotels, spas, property management, and retail, specializing in hospitality and always giving her best to her clients. Passionate about the patient experience, she has a deep love for skincare and overall wellness, which brought her to the Manhattan Dermatology team. In her spare time, Hyede loves to read, hike, laugh, and spend time with her family and dogs.
